In 2017, social media is king. With all the different options out there, it can make your head spin. But with these five tips you can start on your path to social media mastery!

Engage Often

The keyword of social media, is social. Getting online and putting your content out there can be satisfying, but if you’re not looking at other users’ content and interacting with them, you’re simply missing the point.

While you will be trying to drive people to interact with you through engaging and entertaining posts, you’ll have to do some legwork yourself. Finding users who relate to your product or service, following them and communicating with them regularly will get you noticed and produce invested clients who feel they know you on a personal level.

Create Valuable Content

This may seem to go without saying, but creating valuable content is what will find you followers and get them to stick around longer than a minute.

However, saying and doing in this case are two very different things. With all the content out there, how do you add something new?

Find something you’re passionate about, or at least have knowledge on and make it findable, readable and shareable. If you love it, chances are you can make your audience love it too.

Plan Ahead

Did you know there are peak times to post on social media sites? They differ from site to site, but the info is out there so we suggest using it. The most successful social media profiles appear off the cuff but tend to have lengthy planning and research behind them.

Research your audience, curate content they want to see, and post it when they’re looking.

Stay Relevant

You may not want to be that person with their nose in their phone at all times, but if you want to stay relevant, you’re going to have to be that person.

Whenever you have time, read blogs, expand your horizons and see what others are posting. Thrust yourself into your industry. If nothing happens without you knowing about it, you’re on the right track.

Use Analytics

If you’re looking for any sort of information, social media analytics are what you want to search for. Thankfully, many platforms are making it easier to find these through the app or website itself. But if you want to go beyond the basics of how much your page has grown in the last week and what your viewers’ favorite image is, look up more detailed analytics and you’ll be shocked at the information you can gather!

Bonus tip: Use multiple platforms! While it might be easier to stick with just Facebook, you’ll be losing out on the benefits of other networks such as Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and Pinterest. They’re all out there and full of users for a reason.

Finally, the most important thing you should do with social media is have fun. If you’re enjoying yourself that’s going to come through in your posts. Go forth and enjoy the world of social media!
